Luke Richie – “Right Then and There” from Another Lazy Sunday on Vimeo.

Luke Ritchie’s debut, The Water’s Edge, is a culmination of a two year song-writing journey.

Starting in January 2010, Ritchie started recording a song a week. He released each one as a podcast – for six months. Creating 26 in total, his songs spread through word of mouth, resulting in 8,500 downloads by the time he stopped. (The whole diary is here: lukeritchie.co.uk/podcasts).

The podcasts reached composer Nico Muhly, with a track record of collaborative work with acts such as Björk, Jónsi & Anthony & the Johnsons. Muhly composed pieces for five songs on the album, including opener Lighthouse, and played the piano and harmonium himself. The arrangements have taken ‘The Water’s Edge’ to another level, effortlessly building on Ritchie’s original works to create wonderfully rich melodies.

The Joker And The Thief – “Worm In The Soul” from Another Lazy Sunday on Vimeo.

Expect the unexpected. What at first may walk in line may soon meander down routes that lead you to places of joy and exuberance. Expansive lyrics cover the mutilated mundane to the gleefully abstract, on a backdrop of gritty guitars, soulful sax and jazz-beat percussion, The Joker & The Thief like to walk their own way.

Dan, Justin and Josh have stunned audiences with their musical bravado and performance. The lyrics get under your skin, rewriting the love songs of the past with a modern and individual twist and the music grabs you by the collar with its incessant passion dripping out of every note.

Stolen Deer – “How You Always Seem To Find Me” from Another Lazy Sunday on Vimeo.

Stolen Deer is a pop band from the far north of Sweden. During the long and dark winters the band have been trying to create something.

Morning Peasant, their debut album released in April 2012, is a result of that half a decade of pain. Not the stinging type of pain like from putting your hand on a hot plate, but the coming and going type of pain that eats your brain from the inside. This is what makes Morning Peasant timeless. It’s not associated with the best-looking rucksacks or coats from the past or present. By avoiding this, Stolen Deer have found a way to save themselves from their own creative anxiety.

Rhythm, piano and persistent discussing of guitars permeates an album led by Anton Fahlgren’s voice. On top of that there are uplifting trumpets and grieving trombones making the songs something you never can reach and get a hold of with your bare hands.

After recording the album the band went to spend the winter in different places. Two of the members chose to stay in Scandinavia, while two of them went to try their luck in London.

Alex The Great – “The Saint Part. II” from Another Lazy Sunday on Vimeo.

Alex the Great is an independent Alternative-Folk-Rock act based in Brighton, UK… But really they are much more than that.

Alex the Great brings together a far-reaching scale of musical styles – from catchy, guitar-driven tunes to their slowed down, Dylanesque folk songs, it is hard to ignore the cohesive-yet-varied set lists and true dedication that are obvious in each of the band’s performances. While the crowd dances along, each musician brings a sense of individuality to every song, creating a sound that is truly unique. Their music is for everyone, from anywhere.

Folie Ordinaire – “She Gives Me Power” from Another Lazy Sunday on Vimeo.

Folie Ordinaire is a 6 pieces crossover of post punk, new wave, krautrock and electro disco. Their sound is a mixture of synth arppegiators, funky glam guitars, powerful basslines and sexy revolted lyrics performed in intense shows that often develop into a party.
